SAVE 30 %
As part of the new stimulus package a new 30% Federal Tax
Credit has been established for small wind.
The cap of $4000 has been eliminated and you can get a full
30% of your cost back as a tax credit meaning it will reduce
your
tax bill, not just a deduction and can be carried forward
to the next year.  IRS Form 5695 version 2009.

FACTORS TO CONSIDER :

  • AVERAGE WIND VELOCITY
The higher the wind speed the more power can be produced.

  • TURBULENCE
Turbulence reduces efficiency and can cause damage to wind
    turbines over time.

  • PREVAILING WIND DIRECTION
Direction of wind for the longest period of time without
    windward blocks.

  • TERRAIN
The wind will give more speed in open areas.

  • TOWER HEIGHT
Higher is usually better. The further you are from the earth
the more wind speed and less turbulence you will have. Down
side- maintenance, more susceptible to damage, may need guy
    wires.

  • OBSTACLES
Trees and buildings will obstruct airflow and cause turbulence.
Open areas or areas close to water are best.

  • LOCAL REGULATIONS
Be sure to check with state, county and local officials before
purchasing to be sure there are no restrictions on wind
    generators or tower heights.

  • RETURN ON INVESTMENT
Many states and the federal government have incentives
covering the purchase of wind turbines. Most electric service
providers have a buy back option. Some states provide low
    cost financing.

  • Unlike a swimming pool or a new car, wind turbines will add
    value to your property.
Most states charge no property tax on wind turbines.
